29th March - Davis Cup Week

This week Greg will be practising hard with the British team as the main focus is on Great Britain's bid for the Davis Cup . For this reason all updates during and before this tie will be made on the Davis Cup Web site.

Good Luck Lads, we will review the tie from Greg's point of view and update the Results early next week. The Davis Cup site will carry day by day news and results. (CLICK ON THE SECTION TAB - TOP RIGHT CORNER)

We're all off to Birmingham with our BIG union jacks and our foghorn ... might see some of you there. Come and say hello if you spot the Henmagic and Gregmagic group - shouldn't be too hard to spot 120 loonies somewhere behind the teams!!!. GO GB!!!

21st March - Greg chooses to focus on Davis Cup

Or more simply - he was beaten, in the fourth round of the Lipton tournament, by Nicholas Kiefer leaving him free to focus on the Davis Cup. Greg took the first set with one break of serve. But a solitary break enabled the German to level the match, and in the third Greg's serve deserted him.

In 10 days Greg will take the court against the Americans - follow the build up to this through my Davis Cup pages.

21st March - Into Last 16

Hendrick Dreekman provided only limited opposition as Greg beat him in routine fashion - two straight sets. The match took just over an hour and puts Greg into the fourth round where he will play Kiefer or Rafter.

20th March - Dreekman Next

In very hot and humid conditions Greg pushed past Voinea and into a third round clash with Hendrick Dreekman of Germany.

17th March - Lipton Draw

Greg along with the other 31 top players received a first round bye. When he does take to court it will be against Voinea or a Qualifier.

15th March - Greg down to 13 in Rankings

11th March - Greg goes out

Greg lost out in the Battle of Britain when Tim Henman beat him in Three close sets. The record between the pair on the tour now stands at 2-2. Surprisingly the match, especially the second set was dominated by service breaks. Maybe we should have guessed as much when the first two games of the match went against serve. At the end of the day it wasn't to be Greg's match, and therefore he failed to emulate his success of last year when he reached the final.

After the match Greg was naturally disappointed to have lost but felt the match was decided much by luck. Tim was pleased to have finally played aggressively enough to beat Greg. The body language as they came off court suggested that friendly rivalry is still the buzz phrase. In the next round Tim plays Chris Woodruff.

Meanwhile Greg takes the journey across the States to play at Key Biscayne in the Lipton's. His fans can take consolation from the fact that another week has passed without Greg getting an injury that would prevent him playing in the Davis Cup (from a personal point of view - for most GB fans this is THE event before Wimbledon.)

11th March - Battle of Britain

Greg beat Scott Draper of Australia comfortably last night to hand himself a match against current British number 1 Tim Henman. The match is scheduled for Thursday evening. The tournament will be wide open for the winner, with Pete Sampras losing to Felix Mantilla in a shock result.

9th March - Pet-r Cake

As predicted Greg had no trouble seeing off Petr Korda, the controversial Czech left hander. For the second time in three weeks he beat him in straight sets. In this match he fired 11 aces and enjoyed the superiority in the long rallies. In round 2 he plays Spadea or Draper - both tough opponents.

7th March - Greg plays Monday 6pm GMT

Greg plays Petr Korda in the first round of the Newsweek Champions Cup in Indian Wells. At Battersea, Greg had no trouble beating the left hander on the way to the final. The winner of this tournament will have to win 6 matches - it is a 64 draw. Should they both make it Greg will play Tim Henman in the 3rd Round.

2nd March - Rankings

Greg stayed at 10 in the Singles rankings. In doubles he moved upto 210!

1st March - Some Compensation

Greg recieved some compensation for losing in the singles final when Tim Henman joined with him to capture the doubles tournament. They captured the last 4 points of a second set tiebreak to take the trophy. Throughout the tournamnet they never lost a set, in a field that included many top class doubles players. This at least should send a few shockwaves over the Atlantic...
